"I Won't Share You" is a beautiful song indeed, a profoundly moving song, capping an extraordinary four-year run. A seminal band. To this day it's hard to believe Johnny Marr wasn't even 24 when it was recorded. It's equally hard to believe that a songwriter as young as that had already done the best work he would ever do. Is there any precedent in rock for that early a peak for someone so brilliant? It's an argument for the profound potency of the creative partnership of Morrissey/Marr.
