Nice post, Chris. I agree, 'American Girl' doesn't seem to be a song to close an album, and absolutely not one to close show. For me, it would have been a perfect track #2, following 'Rockin' Around (With You)'. Who knows, maybe it was a way to demonstrate a rebel spirit.
